Buick Trademark Applications for “TourX,” “Regal TourX” May Point to Future Wagon!
General Motors has filed two intriguing U.S. trademark applications for its Buick subsidiary that hint at a future station-wagon variant. Yes, you read that right?the first Buick wagon since the Century and the Roadmaster might be on its way, and it could be a Regal! The filings were discovered by AutoGuide, and are for the names “Tourx” and “Regal Tourx.”
As with every modern Buick save for the 2017 LaCrosse, Encore, and Enclave, the wagon is speculated to be sourced from GM’s Opel division in Europe. Today’s Regal is essentially a rebadged Opel Insignia, a model that in Europe can also be had as a station wagon. It has long been rumored that GM might bring over the Insignia wagon as a Buick, and if that’s true, “Regal Tourx” (most likely depicted as “TourX”) could be a sort of American Audi Allroad or Subaru Outback, a normal wagon with a raised ride height and extra body cladding. In fact, for a good roadmap, look no further than Opel’s Insignia Country Tourer wagon pictured above, although like the Insignia/Regal, this soon will be replaced by a redesigned model.
