Star-Spangled Bimmer: BMW Debuts 30 Years American Edition M3
BMW is marking three decades of M3 sales in the U.S. with the M3 30 Years American Edition. Designed by BMW’s Designworks team and built by the brand’s Individual service, the 30 Years American Edition was unveiled at the Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas and will be limited to a single production unit.Â
Equipped with the M3 Competition Package’s 444-hp twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, the 30 Years American Edition sports a six-speed manual transmission and features a host of unique touches. Among them are a coat of Frozen Red II metallic paint; split-spoke wheels measuring 19 inches up front and 20 inches in the rear; a massive, carbon-fiber rear wing; a special rear-window graphic; and a carbon-fiber roof that’s been emblazoned with the M division’s red, blue, and purple stripes. A set of adjustable springs lower the car by 0.2 to 0.8 inches. Meanwhile, an M Performance exhaust system gives the 30 Years American Edition a wail as distinct as its looks.
Inside, the bespoke BMW lives up to its billing thanks to seats and door panels upholstered in a combination of red, white, and blue leather, with contrasting red, white, and blue stitching. Additionally, the front seats include an American flag motif on each headrest, while the front seat shells are done in a vibrant blue hue.
