The RESERVOIR Watch: Inspired by Classic Time Instruments
Taking its inspiration from the functionality and the aesthetic appeal of vintage measuring instruments, RESERVOIR is meant to be the reflection of eras full of cult objects. During these eras, precision instruments (speedometers, tachometers, fuel/temp gauges) were at the service of mankind. The GT Tour and Supercharged collections are then clearly inspired by the dashboard instruments, capturing the essence of high-performance or ?Classic? car racing.RESERVOIR is innovative for the radical way the time is displayed, which is achieved by drawing on three horological complications. The retrograde minute at 240° recalls the R.P.M. counters. The jumping hour displayed by a window at 6 o?clock recalls mileage meters. An aperture between 5 and 7 o?clock displays the power reserve and echoes the fuel and oil gauges.Not everyone realizes that the jumping hour is a rare and complex mechanism. Hours and minutes need to jump and fly-back precisely on the hour. The mechanism requires it to accumulate power before releasing it all at once with one swift movement, but with no extra bounce. Unlike many existing jumping hour / retrograde minute watches, a security device has been developed so there is no risk of damaging the movement when turning the crown anti-clockwise.To this end, RESERVOIR has joined forces with one of the best-known Swiss watchmakers, specialized in designing high complication movements.
