We Just Drove the New Jeep Wrangler; Here Are a Ton of Photos
By now you’ve surely seen the first official photos of Jeep’s next-generation Wrangler 4×4. You might have even caught a glimpse of the rig’s new, ritzier interior as well as some of the new Wrangler accessories Fiat Chrysler’s Mopar parts division plans to upsell customers on. Well, strap in, because we’ve just driven the 2018 Wrangler JL, and while we can’t say anything about how it drives until later this month, we took a whole bunch of up-close and personal photos which we’re able to share.
We also can’t say anything official about the Wrangler’s specifications or details yet. What little information we can discuss is included in these photos. For starters, every 2018 Wrangler has a small plaque bolted to its tailgate that lists a few key specifications for both the two- and four-door models.
According to the numbers on the plaque, the new two-door Wrangler is 2.3 inches longer than its predecessor, and the four-door is 3.3 inches longer than before. The two-door’s wheelbase grows slightly, by 1.4 inches, while the four-door’s swells by a more substantial 2.4 inches, which should help rear-seat legroom. Jeep also publishes the Wrangler’s 30.0-inch water-fording depth on the plaque as well as the two Wranglers’ shared 73.9-inch width, which is 0.2 inch wider than the older JK model.
