Twice Stung: Kia Displays a Pair of Customized Stingers
The turbocharged, rear-wheel-drive Kia Stinger possesses the essential ingredients that make an automotive enthusiast’s dream machine, and Kia hopes to capitalize on those attributes with a pair of custom Stingers. Dubbed the Stinger GT Wide Body and the Stinger GT Federation, the two cars, displayed at the 2017 SEMA show in Las Vegas, represent two different vehicle-personalization paths.
As its name implies, the Wide Body has flared fenders that are wider than those of the stock Stinger GT. Kia won’t say how much wider it is than a stock model but did share that the blue hatchback sits more than an inch lower than the standard car. Built by the crew at West Coast Customs, the Wide Body’s looks are enhanced by a chunky chin spoiler, a radical rear diffuser, and a set of 21-inch Keen wheels. Blue isn’t limited to the Wide Body’s exterior color, either, as the hue is used to line the custom car’s leather seats. Other interior niceties include a gray leather dash panel, a steering wheel wrapped in faux suede, and finger-smudge-friendly gloss black trim on the center console.
While the Wide Body is attractive, the Stinger GT Federation truly makes us swoon. Swathed in a coat of orange paint, the car features attractive black exterior pieces including a lip spoiler, revised hood vents, a thin chin spoiler, a subtle rear diffuser, and 20-inch TSW wheels. Handling is enhanced courtesy of thicker anti-roll bars and Eibach lowering springs. ...
