You can check your owner’s manual to find the maximum towing capacity, or check with a dealership of your vehicle’s make. You also don’t want to ignore your vehicle’s Gross Weight Rating. This is the total weight of your vehicle after adding you, your passengers, dog, fuel, and anything else you plan on carrying.
