SCG to Produce Three Customer-Spec 003S Hypercars at $1.8M Each, Will Lose Money on Each One
While most of the attention from James Glickenhaus?s appearance at the Geneva auto show will be concentrated on his decision to call out the world?s supercar makers for a Nürburgring lap competition, he also gave Car and Driver more details about his plans for the roadgoing S (stradale) version of his self-funded SCG 003S hypercar.
Only the very wealthiest need apply: Glickenhaus said he plans to build three customer cars, charging $1.8 million for each. It’s a figure that Glickenhaus stressed is a ?drop in the ocean? compared to the more than $20 million that he has already spent on developing and racing the car, which means he is effectively losing money on each of the three cars. There?s an additional bonus for buyers, however: They will have their cars developed alongside Glickenhaus?s own. ?I?m going to sell three of them to people who want to help me develop them,? he told C/DÂ at Geneva. ?My commitment to them is that if you tell me what you don?t like, then we?ll fix it together, and if I make changes to my car, then I?ll make them to yours as well.?
