RLXtra Safe: Acura Adds More Safety Features to Its Flagship
Like Mel Brooks, the Acura RLX keeps on living. And in celebration of another year on the market, the Acura’s flagship sedan enters the 2017 model year with a host of newly standard safety equipment.
Starting at $55,370, the 2017 Acura RLX carries a price increase of $3480 over last year’s lowest priced model. Credit the loss of the base RLX trim for the surge. Instead, 2016’s middle-child?the RLX with Technology package?now serves as the entry-level version. For what it’s worth, on a trim-to-trim basis, the 2017 car comes in $20 cheaper.
As a result of Acura’s decision to reshuffle its biggest sedan’s trim lines, all RLXs now come standard with the brand’s full suite of Acura Watch safety features, which includes adaptive cruise control, automated emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-keep assist and lane-departure warning systems, a blind-spot monitor, and more. Other standard features include a navigation system, tri-zone automatic control, and a proximity key with push-button start.
Those looking for even more luxury can step up to the RLX with Advance package for $61,370. Opting for the top trim brings features including a surround-view camera system, front- and rear- parking sensors, heated and cooled front seats, heated rear outboard seats, a heated steering wheel, and more.
