Puffed-Up Pickups: Ford F-150s for SEMA
Ford will have its usual plethora of show cars at the Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas next month, and four of them will be F-150 pickups. Before we see the real deals, have a look at these four rendered transformations of America’s best-selling truck.
Hulst Customs EraThr3 F-150
Out in Oregon, Hulst Customs follows the lowrider tradition of making pickup trucks completely useless for work. Such is the case with this SuperCrew V-8 squatting on 26s. An air suspension can raise the rig from Shelby-level ground clearance, should the driver want to exercise the engine’s 750 horses.
Bojix Design F-150
California’s Bojix Design does an aftermarket take on the factory Raptor, with a seven-inch lift, Fox Racing shocks, and upgrades to the turbos, intercoolers, and exhaust that bring an unspecified power bump to the 3.5-liter V-6. The gray and orange paint arrives just in time for Halloween. But those obnoxiously bright LED light bars should have been left in the shop rather than stuck on top of the bumper. Give us some classic Piaas over a KC roll bar. A.R.E. Accessories Gold Standard F-150
The Treasury hasn’t kept a gold standard since Franklin Roosevelt held office, yet the phrase itself continues to hold weight. While there’s no evidence of gold flakes within the paint, Ohio’s A.R.E. Accessories still might contend this jacked-up F-150 with the power-raising bed cover is the last word in gold-colored pickup trucks.
