Power and Money: 2017 Ram Power Wagon Pricing Released
Later this year, the snout-faced Ram Rebel will no longer be the family member who looks like he was adopted. The refreshed 2017 Ram Power Wagon comes to showrooms before the end of 2016Â with the Rebel-style makeover and a $53,015 price tag.
Essentially a heavy-duty version of the Rebel, the Power Wagon, in its 12th year since the return of the nameplate, is based on the crew-cab Ram 2500. The self-proclaimed “most capable off-road truck in America” offers the same kind of paths-less-traveled package it always has. This year, however, the visual add-ons go beyond graphics and badging with the adoption of a new grille and different taillights.
The mechanical formula is pretty much status quo. The Power Wagon demands respect with a 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 that makes 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, and the truck stands tall on 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires. The off-road setup includes Bilstein monoshocks, a specific five-link rear coil-spring suspension with an electronically disconnecting anti-roll bar, and electronically locking front and rear differentials. The kicked-up pickup has 14.3 inches of ground clearance and 26 inches of wheel travel, and it can traverse up to 30 inches of water. For those who still somehow manage to get stuck, there are tow hooks, skid plates, and a 12,000-pound Warn winch.
