Mercedes-Benz has just launched the coupe version of the GLC-class crossover SUV, but for the sportiest variant of the model line, you need to stick with the regular body style. While both the GLC and the GLC coupe will be available with a 362-hp 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 as the Mercedes-AMG GLC43 (pictured), sources have confirmed to us that only the regular GLC will come with the ultra-powerful 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8. It will be called, you guessed it, the Mercedes-AMG GLC63.

It’s likely that Daimler will offer the GLC63 in two power levels: a Mercedes-AMG GLC63 with 469 horsepower and a Mercedes-AMG GLC63 S with 503 hp. The sprint from zero to 60 mph will take around four seconds, and top speed for the regular model will be governed at 155 mph, while the S version could get a 174-mph limiter. Designed by the Mercedes-AMG performance division in Affalterbach, Germany, the GLC63 models will receive large front air intakes, fender extensions, and quad exhaust outlets.
