Dodge tried several years ago to convince shoppers that the Grand Caravan was “manly” with a sport-oriented R/T trim, and now Chrysler seems to have redirected some of that effort toward the new Pacifica. For its second model year, Chrysler’s minivan is getting a new S Appearance package that incorporates a darkened look for the exterior and interior. You know, because masculinity is too fragile for cool dads to be okay driving just a normal Pacifica.
Key elements of the package include a black finish for the wheels, black badges, an available black roof, and gloss black trim around the grille, headlights, and window surround. Black dominates the cabin, too, as the seats and steering wheel are finished in black with gray stitching, while piano-black accents adorn several other dashboard surfaces and trim pieces.

This purportedly sportier look costs $595 on top of the Pacifica’s Touring Plus, Touring L, Touring L Plus, or Limited trim levels (it’s not available for the Pacifica plug-in hybrid). Standard wheels measure 18 inches in diameter, while 20-inchers are a $995 option. These darkened Pacificas will start arriving at dealers within the next few months, for those parents who’d feel inadequate while driving ordinary, brightly colored minivans.
