McLaren Racing in Extreme E
For the 2022 racing calendar, the McLaren brand will be contesting in no less than three championships ? namely Formula 1, IndyCar, and its latest venture, Extreme E. McLaren says the reason for joining Extreme E was strategic, economic, and environmental. On the environmental share, Mark Grain, McLaren Racing’s sporting director, says, ‘Sustainability now underpins everything that we’re doing at McLaren Racing and has for over ten years since we attained carbon neutral status. We have set ourselves a goal of being net-zero by 2030. All-electric motorsport like Extreme E, with its focus on sustainability, supports the broader agenda from McLaren racing. Another aspect is we do believe it’ll be an accelerator for that process and we think that this will bring a whole new generation of fans into McLaren Racing as well.? McLaren MX Extreme E. During testing of the McLaren Extreme E car in November 2021, driver Tanner Foust mentioned that the power shift, having the front and rear electric powertrain on this car, makes a more significant difference to performance than suspension setup ? which for an off-road racer is considered to be the holy grail of performance development.
