How We’d Spec It: The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor We’d Buy (Then Immediately Jump over Everything)
Ford’s second-generation F-150 Raptor looms. Quite literally?the truck could probably run us over and barely skip a beat. That aside, the Raptor’s proximity to Ford dealerships means that the online configurator for the mega-truck is live. We spent a few minutes (okay, maybe longer) adding options, picking just the right paint color, and fantasizing about blasting over the dunes, trails, and off-road parks that dot our land. You know, doing stuff like this. Here’s the 2017 Raptor we assembled:

Ford F-150 Raptor SuperCab (base price: $49,520)
The Raptor is available in two body styles: first, an extended-cab SuperCab, and second, a four-door SuperCrew. Both come with a 5.5-foot bed, meaning the four-door is a bit larger thanks to its longer wheelbase. As practical as the SuperCrew is, the F-150 Raptor just looks so much more “right” as a desert-running off-road truck in its stubbier SuperCab configuration. And, hey, there still is seating for three (smaller) humans in the back! As a bonus, the SuperCab is the least expensive option, starting at $49,520 compared with the SuperCrew’s $52,505 ask. Critical standard features include gnarly off-road tires, Fox Racing Shox, skid plates, four-wheel drive, a 450-hp twin-turbocharged V-6 engine, and a 10-speed automatic transmission.
