Honda Expanding Takata Airbag Recall by 2.2 Million Cars

Honda is recalling 4.5 million cars in the U.S. for defective Takata passenger-side frontal airbags, including 2700 motorcycles.

This new recall adds 2.2 million more Honda and Acura models for a total of more than 10.7 million cars. Out of the dozen automakers and 25 brands involved since the Takata recalls first broke in 2013, Honda has recalled the most cars, and all but one of the 11 deaths have involved a Honda vehicle.
The full list of cars in this recall are: the 2002?2004 Odyssey; 2003?2006 Acura MDX; 2003?2011 Pilot and Element; 2005?2011 CR-V and Acura RL; 2006?2011 Civic and Ridgeline; 2007?2011 Fit; 2008?2011 Accord; 2009?2011 Acura TSX; and 2010?2011 Accord Crosstour, Insight, FCX Clarity, and Acura ZDX. The 2006?2010 Honda Gold Wing motorcycle is also included. The recall is part of an expanded campaign that affects 21 million Honda models globally. Starting June 6, Honda says owners can search their VINs on its recall website (here for Acura owners or here for Honda motorcycle owners) to determine if their specific car or motorcycle is included. Parts will be limited and may not be available until late in the summer (or early in the fall for motorcycle owners). If parts are not available, Honda will send owners a second recall notice when they arrive.
