The V-8 is mounted amidships, and parts of the Hybrid Synergy Drive system move to the front passenger’s footwell, for better weight distribution. Output is capped at 300 horsepower, while an aggressive front splitter and a giant rear wing help manage airflow over the lower, wider body. The first GT300-specification Prius came out in 2012; this version, based on the fourth-generation car, was unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon. It will make its racing debut on April 9?10 at the first Super GT race of the year, at Japan’s Okayama circuit. Perhaps it will serve as an inspiration to Prius drivers everywhere.
