General Motors Recalls 426,000 Trucks for Faulty Brake Pedals
General Motors is recalling 426,573 pickups and police SUVs in the U.S. for brake pedals that can break, according to Reuters.
A nut on the brake pedal’s pivot point, which keeps the pedal in place, can loosen and let the pedal move in any direction. At that point, stopping could be a real challenge, or the truck may not stop at all. The 2015?2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicle, and GMC Sierra 2500HD are all affected. No accidents or injuries have been reported.

Dealers will check to see if the vehicles already were fixed by the factory?at some point, GM found the problem and corrected it on the assembly line?and if not, they’ll cover the bolt with adhesive and reinstall it at a higher torque rating. GM has not specified a repair schedule and filings were not yet available from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In October, GM recalled the half-ton Silverado and Sierra, plus the Tahoe, for ignition switches that can be hard to turn.
