In today’s world of milquetoast alphanumeric vehicle names, the Savage Rivale Roadyacht GTS?a boutique Dutch supercar, powered by a small-block V-8, that has become the donor platform for this electrified GLM G4?practically deserved to succeed on name alone. But getting started in the automaking business is extraordinarily challenging, and after the Roadyacht met with limited success, Japanese EV startup GLM stepped in to employ the quadruple-dihedral-door, low-slung four-seater as the basis for its G4 EV.
GLM installed two electric motors, good for 536 horsepower, and a Mercedes-AMG-V-12?equaling 738 lb-ft of torque. Despite motive force that’s roughly equivalent to that of a Tesla P90D Model S or X, GLM claims a rather modest zero-to-62-mph time of 3.7 seconds, which is substantially slower than either Tesla. Top speed, however, matches the Model S at 155 mph, and the predicted range from its battery pack (of unspecified capacity), at least according to the more generous New European Driving Cycle (NEDC), is 249 miles.

But despite sharing a nickname with a Gulfstream, getting the G4 successfully off the ground probably won’t be any easier than it was for the Roadyacht.
