Woo-hoo! Ford has, unexpectedly and delightfully, rolled out a new Mustang Cobra Jet drag car on us. And get this. Right out of the box, the Ford Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 prototype is putting down over 1,500 horsepower and can crank out low-eight second times in the quarter. But, believe it or not, that’s not the impressive part. No, this is the impressive part: The Ford Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 prototype is electric.
No Fuel" No Problem!
The raw numbers for this latest Cobra Jet, recorded during a recent round of private development testing, are simply head-shaking. A quarter-mile time of 8.27 seconds. The terminal velocity is 168 miles per hour. Peak power output for the Ford Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 prototype is 1,502 horsepower at the wheels.
