Ford’s Latest Focus RS Stunt Proves Age Means Nothing, Or: Watch Grandparents Drift a Hot Hatch
Correlation doesn’t always equal causation, and old age doesn’t necessarily mean an individual is slow and dangerous behind the wheel. In honor of National Grandparents Day, Ford has taken it upon itself to prove that?when it comes to driving, at least?age is but a number.
That’s why a handful of Ford engineers and their respective grandparents were given an opportunity to get behind the wheel of a 350-hp Ford Focus RS. This wasn’t any ordinary turn of the tiller for these young-at-heart grandparents, though. As seen in the video below, the team of Ford engineers helped their elders learn to push the all-wheel-drive Focus RS as though they were filming a gymkhana video with Ken Block.
Sure, these old-timers had a little extra help from the Focus RS’s infamous Drift Mode, which can send as much as 70 percent of the RS’s power rearward to make sliding the car’s tail easy. Nevertheless, don’t let modern technology take away from the fact that these seniors hooned Ford’s $36,995 high-performance hatchback like a bunch of freshly licensed teenagers.
