Finally Final: Mitsubishi Is Selling the Last-Ever Evo on eBay
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution production has finally come to an end. Despite the car’s near decade-long run, we’re sad to see it go. Moreover, Mitsubishi has confirmed there won’t be a replacement, meaning the 1600th Final Edition car will be the last production Evolution ever. To celebrate the occasion, Mitsubishi Motors North America is auctioning that final car?a 2015 model with 11 miles on the odometer?on eBay Motors to benefit charity.
The Final Edition is the latest (and last) iteration of the tenth-generation Lancer Evolution. While it comes equipped with a few trim upgrades, neat wheels, and a better suspension, it retains the same 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four and five-speed (!) manual transmission it had at its debut in 2007. With 303 horsepower and all-wheel drive, it’s still far from slow?we recently tested a Final Edition and recorded a 4.4-second sprint to 60 mph and a 13.3-second quarter-mile time at 104 mph. However, decade-old technology can only get it so far with today’s competition. The US1600, as Mitsubishi is calling it, will be on eBay’s “Motors” subsite for a week. The auction started yesterday morning and ends on Friday, September 15, at 9 a.m. Pacific time. All proceeds will go directly to the Feeding America Riverside San Bernardino and Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.
