We have heard continuously how F1 2021 will be the year that Formula 1 enters a new revolution. But with all the discussions, research and concepts taking much longer than expected will this new era of F1 come in 2021 or later"
Yes and No. At this year?s German Grand Prix, to the surprise of the majority of teams, it was announced that F1 will move to 18? wheels, compared to the 13? rims currently raced. This causes huge implications; new tyre sizes and compounds will have to be developed, new brakes are required and the suspension will have to be redesigned – and that is without going into the effect of larger rotating wheels on the aerodynamic efficiency.
