Plenty of people dream of creating their own supercar; however, few people actually turn that dream into a reality. Roland Gumpert did just that when he created the Gumpert Apollo sports car in the 2000s.
Gumpert went bankrupt in late 2013, but the company’s assets wound up in the hands of Ideal Team Ventures, which brought the dream back to life as Apollo Automobil, which debuted the Apollo Arrow supercar at the 2016 Geneva auto show.
Concept, though, is coming one step closer to reality, as Apollo has announced that the Arrow will enter production, thanks to a partnership with Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, maker of the SCG 003, the brainchild of automotive enthusiast James Glickenhaus. Both the roadgoing Apollo Arrow S and a new track car, being developed under the name Titan, will use chassis technology borrowed from the SCG 003. Although specifics are not yet available, we expect Apollo to rely on SCG’s exotic carbon-fiber chassis to form the basis of the Arrow S and Titan.
Production will come courtesy of the Italian company Manifattura Automobili Torino (MAT). That’s no surprise, really, to those who have been closely following the SCG 003’s development, since MAT has been an essential partner in the creation of Glickenhaus’s supercar.
