Cats are so last decade. Dogs are all the rage now. They’re taking over your favorite memes and your favorite YouTube videos, and they are even being used as representatives for eight of our nine Supreme Court justices by British comedian John Oliver. Let it be known that the 2010s is the decade of the dog. Not one to let this fad pass, Nissan has decided to outfit the Rogue with a host of dog-friendly features to create the Rogue Dogue concept.
For the most part, the Rogue Dogue is little more than an Americanized version of the European Nissan X-Trail 4Dogs concept. Like the 4Dogs, the Dogue offers canine-approved items such as a custom removable dog bed, cargo-area padding, water and food dispensers that Nissan claims are impervious to spillage, a first-aid kit for your four-legged friend, a clip-on safety harness and multiple leash-attachment points to keep Fido in place, and the requisite poop-bag dispenser to pick up the patties your canine companion is bound to leave behind.
Additionally, the Rogue Dogue comes with a ramp that deploys from the rear of the compact crossover to help your furry friend enter the cabin, while an integrated dog shower and dryer prevents the cur from dragging dirt and mud into the car. Notably missing from the Dogue, though, is the 4Dogs? cargo-area screen and two-way camera that lets our European human and animal counterparts keep tabs on each other during the drive.
