2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Spied: It’s Grand All Right
Jeep’s upcoming Grand Wagoneer is going to be a big deal?quite literally. Leaked images from a Jeep dealer meeting show the front and rear ends of this new luxury SUV, giving the impression that the Wagoneer will be significantly more grand than Jeep’s current SUV king, the Grand Cherokee. Appearing considerably wider and taller than the Grand Cherokee on this poster, the reborn Jeep flagship looks to have an appropriately grandiose presence and upscale vibe.
This new model, which uses the storied nameplate from Jeep’s (and Willys’) past, will give Jeep a three-row SUV when it arrives for the 2019 model year (a bit later than previously estimated). It’ll also be quite a luxurious beast, one that FCA intends will compete with Mercedes-Benz and Range Rover at the upper end of the large-SUV segment. From what we can see of the front end, it shares a lot of its look with the Grand Cherokee?the chrome seven-slat grille, prominently displayed, and similarly shaped headlights, albeit with an interesting new LED dot pattern that we haven’t seen before from Jeep. Similar LED elements are visible in the taillights, along with large dual exhaust outlets.
It’s expected that the Wagoneer’s underpinnings will be shared with those of the next-generation Grand Cherokee, with a significant wheelbase stretch to accommodate the third row of seats. Four-wheel drive should be standard, with a V-8 engine option on the menu as well. Jeep...
