2018 Jaguar XJR575: Big Cat Sharpens Her Claws
Rather than doing its best impression of German rivals, it seems that Jaguar has just decided to go full claws-out crazy with the full-size XJ. Case in point; the new XJR575. Jag?s latest addition to the XJ lineup boasts 575 horsepower and 517 lb-ft from the corporate 5.0-liter supercharged V-8? improvements of 25 horsepower and 15 lb-ft over the hardly anemic standard XJR. Those power figures match Jaguar?s own big-boy F-type SVR, and torque figures surpass it.
All that grunt goes through the ZF eight-speed auto that’s standard across the model range and victimizes asphalt through the rear wheels only, which sounds like a rather tasty burnout recipe. Acceleration is expected to be strong, with Jaguar claiming a 4.2-second zero-to-60-mph sprint. That being said, it?s a safe bet that the 575 will leave that estimate choking on tire smoke. Why?s that" Jaguar’s XJR L, heavier and less powerful, hit 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds in our testing in 2014, which was 0.8 second quicker than Jaguar’s claim for that model. Expect the new variant to achieve a slightly quicker time than its already impressive sibling.
