The 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed, an annual orgy of car nuttiness draped onto an earl?s estate outside London, has come to a close. We’re still washing the beer, dirt, and exhaust smells out of our clothes, but we didn’t forget to bring you in on the action.
Easily the best part of the Festival of Speed is that nearly all of the cars on display also take to a narrow, winding, hay-bale-lined 1.16-mile hill-climb course. That means everything from recent supercars to 100-year-old competition machines blats, whizzes, whooshes, and squeals its way to the top of the hill to the delight of car enthusiasts. Some drivers even try for a quick time?never mind the priceless machinery under their control?thus stirring into the mix a bit of danger and the threat of crashing. We sat at the first corner for hours, mesmerized by this fast-moving parade of automotive history, and luckily we brought along a camera to capture as much of it as we could. Enjoy!
