Day 3 of The 2022 Four Wheeler Overland Adventure Presented by Jeep welcomed participants with the smells of rain-soaked Creosote shrubs and blooming Ocotillo plants.

The day's journey carried participants to another of General Patton's training camps, Camp Coxcomb. This camp was once occupied by the 7th Armored Division, the 85th Infantry Division, the 93rd Infantry Division, and the 95th Infantry Division. Camp Coxcomb can be found across the valley from the Palen Pass Maneuver Area.
Wheels turned once again and we proceeded to Camp Iron Mountain, found in the shadow of the Iron Mountains. As the group unfolded awnings and enjoyed a bite to eat away from the radiating desert heat, some ogled the remains of two chapel altars, one Catholic and another for Protestant services.
The day's travels concluded near Vidal Junction, where some chose to make camp for the evening. To escape the heat, some folded out shelters from their vehicles to recline in the shade, and others pointed their rigs toward the nearby Colorado River for a refreshing swim.
