Skoda offers Geneva vision of SUV future
Skoda will reveal a concept car at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show offering a strong hint towards the look of the brand?s planned new large SUV.
The VisionS concept, which will be revealed on the opening day of the Geneva event on 1st March, is said to very close to an SUV due early in 2017 and said by industry sources to be taking the name Kodiaq.
Styling on the VisionS reflects Skoda?s latest design language first seen on the VisionC revealed at the Geneva show in 2014.with bold, sharp lines, a wide grille and four tapered, high-set headlamps.
A sharp ?tornado line? runs the entire length of the each side, while the wheelarches are angular, according to the car?s designers emphasising its off-road character. A downwards sloping roof, heavily tapered tailgate and roof spoiler are further notable design elements. The VisionC is quite a large vehicle, measuring 4,700mm long, 1,910mm wide and 1,680mm high, and inside accommodates six people in three rows of seats.
No details of the powertrain have yet been released by Skoda, but the production model, built on the same MQB platform used on most recent VW Group products, is likely to call upon the 1.6-litre powerplants used in the latest Superb.
