A young boy saw his first Indy 500 in 1951. It inspired him to become a dominant force in the automotive world, and the 82-year old is still at it. Announced by the Associated Press and Indycar.com, our friend Roger has big plans for the facility and the series.

As only the 4th owner in the track’s history, the Brickyard will become a world-class venue, and hopefully, entice Formula1 to return. Team Penske has 18 wins at the track, and his dealer network offers thousands of exotic cars for sale.

As the owner of several Indy and NASCAR teams, he is divesting them to prevent a conflict of interest. Here is his official statement from the speedway’s website:

We are excited to begin a new era at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) in 2020. On behalf of everyone at Penske Corporation, we look forward to carrying on the tradition of the legendary facility as the new stewards of IMS.
