Renault?s new Grand Scenic breaks cover
Renault has revealed the first pictures of its all-new Grand Scenic MPV.
Evolved from the latest Scenic compact MPV that debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March, the fourth-generation Grand Scenic will go on sale before the end of 2016.
The new model is built on the Renault group?s Common Module Family platform, also used on the Megane and Kadjar. It measures up 240mm longer than its sibling, and offers an extra 222 cubic litres of boot capacity. It will be offered in both five-seat and seven-seat variants.
It also outstretches its predecessor in virtually all areas ? it is 75mm longer, 15mm higher and 20mm wider, with a wheelbase extended by 35mm.
Renault is heavily promoting the visual appearance of the new model, most notably the 20-inch wheels which like on the Scenic are standard across the range. These are narrower than previous wheels which is said to provide segment-leading ride comfort. Buyers will also be offered a two-tone exterior livery and chrome or metal grey accessories on the new model.
Seven powertrain options are being specified for the new Grand Scenic but it is not yet confirmed how many of them will be offered to UK buyers. Five of the options are diesel based ? the dCi 110 unit with a six-speed manual gearbox, a version with an electric hybrid assist unit to improve performance and cut fuel consumption, and one with a seven-speed dual-clutch EDC transmission, a dCi 130 with manual gearbox, and a 160 version with six-speed EDC.
Petrol options are TCe...
