New 3008 ‘most advanced Peugeot yet’
Peugeot has unveiled the all-new version of the 3008 SUV, dubbing it the brand?s ?most advanced vehicle to date?.
The reveal comes ahead of the car?s public debut at the Paris Motor Show in September ? it will first be seen on UK roads in January 2017.
Described by its makers as one of the most compact models in its segment, the new 3008 is nonetheless 80mm longer than its predecessor at 4450mm, while retaining the same width of 1840mm, and dropping the height by 19mm to 1620mm.
The car?s wheelbase has been stretched from 2613 to 2675mm. This frees up more interior space particularly in the rear, Peugeot quoting an additional 24mm of legroom, 36mm of headroom and 4mm of elbow room.
Elbow space in the front also goes up by 17mm despite no increase in body width, while luggage capacity leaps almost 90 litres to 520 litres under the cover and 1580 litres with the rear seats folded flat. The technological advances come in several areas, notably the car?s weight, which is on average 100kg less than outgoing models. This is due mainly to intelligent design and the use of modern materials such as Very High Strength Steel (VHSS) and Ultra High Strength Steel (UHSS), along with a thermoplastic boot floor and tailgate and aluminium wings, front suspension arms and rear seat frames.
Peugeot adds that another weight saving comes from the reduction in sound-deadening material due to the improved refinement of the engines offered on the 3008. These are all Euro 6 units with improved effi...
