Infiniti shows shape of future SUVs
Infiniti is debuting a new crossover concept at the Beijing Auto Show.
The QX Sport Inspiration is described as daring and a vision of a future premium mid-sized SUV.
It is based on the ?Powerful Elegance? design language, which Nissan?s premium sister brand first displayed on its Q80 concept in 2014. According to Infiniti design studios in the UK, USA, China and Japan all contributed to the look of the car.
The exterior is heavily sculpted, combining bold lines and curves, a coupe-like window shape and a full-length panoramic roof.
Inside the theme is ?driver-centric, passenger-minded?, with a minimalist dash layout and leather upholstery mainly in black and white. While not saying that the QX Sport Inspiration will evolve into a specific model, Infiniti does state that it lays down design, layout and engineering markers for the brand?s future QX crossovers. No mechanical details have been released concerning the concept.
According to Infiniti President, Roland Krueger, the QX Sport Inspiration is very much a statement of the brand’s intent. ?(It is) showcasing a daring design philosophy and a demonstration of our capabilities in the mid-size SUV segment,? he says.
