Hyundai’s Ioniq reveals its look
Hyundai has released new pictures of its Ioniq, the car that the Korean brand will launch with a three-way electric-based powertrain choice in 2016.
Two new pictures reveal the car?s exterior styling and some details of the cabin.
Hyundai says that the car will have class-leading aerodynamics, but while much care has been taken to meet its environmentally-focused brief, the exterior has also been styled to produce positive head-turning reactions.
Therefore the Ioniq?s contours are designed to minimise wind resistance and efficiently manage airflow, while familiar Hyundai design elements remain such as the hexagonal grille ? this s now topped by a gloss black panel that extends out to distinctively-shaped headlamps. The interior shot shows the dash and console, which is notably low on the number of controls ? Hyundai says that the intention is ?efficient use of interior space and a clear, logical approach to the layout of control functions?.
The Ioniq will launch with a choice of all-electric, plug-in hybrid or traditional hybrid powertrains, and is expected to rival the likes of Toyota?s Prius.
