Geneva ? Jaguar?s 200mph F-Type debuts

Jaguar is debuting the F-Type SVR, in both coupe and convertible form, at the Geneva show.
Developed by Jaguar Land Rover?s Special Operations unit the car is significantly upgraded over the F-Type R variant on which it is based. The 5-litre V8 supercharged engine is increased in output from 541 to 567bhp, still put through an all-wheel-drive transmission and which in the Coupe cuts the 0-60mph time from 4.1 to 3.5 seconds and increases the top speed from 186 to 200mph.
The car?s weight is cut by between 25kg and 50kg over the F-Type R, depending on which options are fitted. The replacement titanium exhaust, for example, saves 16kg while improving the engine note.
Chassis modifications include new dampers, thicker anti-roll bars and stiffer rear knuckles, and lighter 20-inch aluminium forged wheels with wider tyres. Aerodynamics are also smoothed out, the package including a new front bumper and splitter, flat underfloor, carbon fibre active rear wing and rear venturi.
The entire electronics package is specifically tuned to the SVR, across the Quickshift transmission and the Electric Power-Assisted Steering, Adaptive Dynamics, Torque Vectoring, Dynamic Stability Control and All-Wheel Drive systems.
SVR models gain a bespoke trim package, with a Lozenge Quilt upholstery on the seats, suede cloth on the instrument binnacle and centre console, anodised aluminium paddle shifters and a distinct steering wheel.
