Ferrari’s four-seater steers new path
Ferrari will unveil a facelifted version of its FF at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and give the car a new name.
Now known as the GTC4Lusso, the four-seater ?shooting brake coupe? has undergone a number of changes, including the first combination of four-wheel drive and four-wheel steering.
Ferrari hopes that the car will, like its predecessor, attract younger buyers than the brand?s traditional clientele ? buyers that research suggests do around 30 per cent more mileage in their Ferrari.
The GTC designation has been chosen, Ferrari says, to reference previous models including the 330 GTC and GT, and the 250 GT Berlina Lusso, while the ?4? refers to the car?s four-seat layout.
Power comes from a 12-cylinder 6.2-litre engine with 680bhp at 8000rpm and 514lbft of torque at 5750rpm ? 80 per cent of which is on tap from 1750rpm. Traction is put to the road through the new 4RM-S (four-wheel drive and steering) system that is based on Ferrari’s recently launched Slide Slide Control and incorporates an electronic differential and active dampers. As a result the GTC4Lusso is said to remain sure-footed on wet or snow-bound roads.
Externally the car gains a new front grille with integrated air intakes, wing-mounted air vents, a roof-mounted rear spoiler and triple section rear diffuser.
Inside the updates include a ?Dual Cockpit? layout, with the front-seat passenger given their own display unit with various functions available. A new infotainment systems with a 10.25in touch...
