Euro debut for Porsche 911 in Brussels
Porsche has unveiled its latest 911 Turbo S model simultaneously at the Detroit and Brussels motor shows, writes John Elwin.
The new model features both mechanical and cosmetic upgrades. A combination of larger turbos and revised engine electronics has increased power output to 580bhp, some 20 bhp more than previously. The engine has been optimised to run on the latest E10 ethanol fuel.
From the styling angle, both front and rear ends of the car have seen changes. Most noticeable at the front will be the new light module, now containing LED headlights and four-point daytime running lights.
Aerodynamically there is a multi stage adjustable front spoiler, working in conjunction with the rear wing. At the rear, the engine cover now features vertical vanes in the grilles in a style reminiscent of Porsche?s 1950?s sports racers. With the car now very close to the GT3 RS in terms of performance, it is perhaps appropriate that it should come with a motorsport-inspired steering wheel equipped with gearshift paddles and a switch for four drive modes, together with other optional multi-function controls.
