So Much Excellence: Volvo’s Ultra-Luxe XC90 Carries a Six-Figure Price Tag
If you’re not quite convinced of Volvo’s luxury credentials yet, maybe the new ultra-luxury Volvo XC90 Excellence will do the trick. To go along with its sumptuous cabin and gussied-up exterior, this new range-topping SUV certainly carries a flagship-worthy price: $105,895. That makes it the first-ever Volvo to ever crash through the six-figure price ceiling.
If the cost alone doesn’t change your mind, this special XC90’s interior appointments just might. To create the Excellence, Volvo deleted the XC90’s third-row seats and installed two throne-like chairs (with heating, cooling, and massage functions) where the second-row bench used to be. Footrests, folding tray tables, heated and cooled cupholders, and even a refrigerator in the center console create a rear-seat environment that tops most first-class airplane seats, while all passengers enjoy a quieter ride thanks to increased sound-deadening and noise-canceling Pirelli tires. All the equipment and trim from the XC90 Inscription model carries over, including open-pore wood and Nappa leather, with the optional 20-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system also included here.
