Big Tex Approved: 2017 Nissan Texas Titan Makes Obligatory State Tribute
The Nissan Titan is the worst-selling large pickup truck in the U.S. market. The Toyota Tundra, which licks gum off the Detroit Three’s heels, outsells the Mississippi-built Titan by nearly nine to one. The Honda Ridgeline is doing better than the Titan’s 8490 sales through August, and it’s based off a minivan. But hey, it’s Texas State Fair time in Dallas, and Nissan has a Texas-themed truck for Texans to consider when they’re ready to trade-in that Ford F-150 King Ranch.
These are the brutal facts of life for foreign-brand pickup trucks, even though the Titan is just one year into an extensive redesign, including a novel tweener model that splits the difference between light- and heavy-duty capabilities. The Texas package is available on that truck, the Cummins diesel?powered XD, along with the gasoline V-8 models in both two- and four-wheel-drive Crew Cab configurations on the SL and SV trims.
Of course, you can’t spell Texas without chrome, and the Texas package is all the more shinier than a Titan in those other 49 states. The grille, running boards, 20-inch wheels, and exhaust tips get dipped. Beyond that, chunky Texas Titan badges and graphics (written so because Texas always comes first) adorn the floor mats and various other body parts.
