Spring arrival for Kia’s Sportage best-seller
Kia promises significant upgrades on its all-new Sportage, which will arrive in showrooms in Spring 2016.
Highlights of the fourth-generation version of the brand?s compact SUV include a completely new interior and exterior design, a more upmarket quality and a host of new technology.
Launching into one of the car market?s most competitive sectors, the latest Sportage is expected to continue the success of its predecessors. The first version of 1993 is regarded as one of the key models responsible for transforming Kia from a budget manufacturer to a mainstream contender, and today the Sportage is the brand?s best European seller accounting for more than 27 per cent of Kia?s volume.
The new Sportage, first seen at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015, boasts a bolder exterior profile intended to give the car a more purposeful, sporty image ? as part of this a new trim level, GT Line, is being added to the range for the first time. Most obvious exterior change is the separation of the signature ?tiger nose? grille and the headlamps, the latter placed higher to sweep back along the car?s flanks and the grille now lower and wider.
The car is 40mm longer, 4,480mm, than its predecessor with a wheelbase extended by 30mm to 2,670mm, while the height and width remain unchanged at 1,635 and 1,855mm respectively. This translates to more interior space and a boot volume increased from 465 to 503 litres.
