Geneva debut for Jaguar’s 200mph F-Type
Jaguar will unveil the fastest version of the F-Type yet at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
The F-Type SVR is said to be capable of 200mph, though Jaguar is not yet providing any other performance figures. However industry sources suggest the car will boast a sub 4-second 0-62mph time.
Based on the F-Type R, the SVR is the first Jaguar model in a new sub-brand developed by Jaguar Land Rover?s Special Operations department to target the likes of Mercedes-Benz AMG and BMW M cars. A Range Rover Sport SVR was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015.
The F-Type SVR will be available in both coupe and convertible versions and is expected to be priced at around £100,000. Power will be provided by a supercharged 5-litre V8 engine with output in the region of 567bhp put through an eight-speed auto gearbox and all-wheel drive. Other enhancements are expected to include a number of weight-saving measures, while the official pictures show aerodynamic modifications including a larger front spoiler with wider air intakes, a similarly enlarged rear diffuser and a boot-mounted wing.
Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations director John Edwards describes the F-Type SVR as showing everything the company knows about precision engineering, performance and design.
?The result is a 200mph, all-weather supercar that you can drive every day ? we even made a Convertible version so that enthusiasts can revel in the sound from the new titanium exhaust system,? he says.
